
Congratulations to Beaux Medina, our first "Books and Beyond" Reader of the school year at Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy. Beaux has successfully reached his goal of reading 300 books at home and has earned his "I Love to Read" T-shirt. All after-school events on Thursday, Jan. 9th, have been canceled. At this time, school is set to proceed as normal on Friday, Jan. 10th. Any changes to the school day will be immediately communicated to all parents & staff.

Happy New Year from Copperas Cove ISD!


Students from the CCJHS National Junior Honor Society recently visited Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy to participate in Literacy Day with Cove's Pre-K students. They read to classes, took part in literacy stations and participated in library activities.

CCISD held Computer Science Week Dec. 9th-13th as part of Code.org's Hour of Code, showing students that anybody could learn coding. Students learned coding basics and completed daily activities, like graphic design.

Our retiring superintendent Dr. Joe Burns was honored in a surprise at last week's Military Affairs Dinner for his years of work in our community, including with Fort Cavazos and military-connected students in Cove.

Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy recently hosted its campus Literacy Night, with a holiday theme. Thank you to everybody who came out and made the night a success!

Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy had their Holiday Literacy Night and it was a huge success. Many families came out to hear stories, do various activities, and the children got to see our special guest from the North Pole, good ole Santa Claus. Even with his busy schedule he was able to make time to see all the children that attended.

Tuesday night, the CCISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the hiring of Carolyn Jackson as the new principal at House Creek Elementary, in addition to approving the expansion of a key R.I.S.E. Program partnership.

Ahead of Tuesday evening's regular Board of Trustees meeting, there will be a reception to thank outgoing board members Mrs. Inez Faison and Mrs. Ann Davis-Williams for their years of service to the students in CCISD.
