Trustees Recognize Mrs. Valdez and ES2S Students for Outstanding Contribution to Food for Families

Copperas Cove ISD

On January 14, 2025, Mrs. Valdez and an ES2S student were recognized for their significant contributions to the Food for Families event held in November. Food for Families is a long-standing tradition in Copperas Cove, with House Creek Elementary proudly participating for many years. The school has achieved an impressive record, winning the event 12 times in total, including an impressive 9 consecutive years! This year, House Creek Elementary collected an astounding 2,143 pounds of food, one of the highest amounts gathered by any school in the district.

The Elementary Student 2 Student (ES2S) program, supervised by Mrs. Valdez, House Creek's school counselor, is designed to equip students with essential leadership and mentorship skills, ES2S participants play a key role in welcoming new students to the school, providing them with a thoughtful gift and a guided tour of the campus. This initiative helps ease the transition for newcomers, making them feel more at home. Additionally, it offers the student tour guides a valuable opportunity to practice their public speaking and presentation skills, boosting their confidence in communicating with others.

Great job Mrs. Valdez, ES2S students, and House Creek Elementary!!
